The Turkish shipyard Yonca-Onuk handed over the first of three MRTP 34 patrol boats to the Qatari Emiri Navy in a ceremony held on 24 December.
Turkey's Defence Industries Undersecretariat (SSM) said the vessel is called That Assuary (Q 31) and described it as a high-speed attack boat. Photographs show that an Aselsan remote controlled gun system with a 30 mm cannon has been fitted, but it has not been equipped with anti-ship missiles as yet.
The MRTP 33 fast attack craft that were built for Pakistan are armed with Harpoon Block 2 anti-ship missiles.
Ordered in 2012, Qatar's MRTP 34s are also capable of carrying a rigid-hull inflatable boat.http://www.janes.com
